I only discovered The Office (US) a couple of years ago but ever since it's taken pride of place as my favourite TV series ever. I've watched every episode at least 4 times so I'm a bonifide superfan.
I love those blog posts that analyse script data like this one of The Simpsons so I thought I'd do my own on The Office, here's what I found out.
Unsurprisingly Michael tops the list having spoken nearly 150,000 words over the course of the show.
I didn't expect Angela to be so far up but I guess she does feature in one of the shows major story lines - The Dwight / Andy love triangle - and in a similar story line later on with The Senator and Oscar.
I was also surpirsed that Erin was 7th on the list having only been introduced in season 5.
This shows just how much Michael Scott is the star of the show, in seasons 1 - 7 he had well over the double the amount of words of any other character. When he left Andy became the focus of the show in Season 8 before Dwight in the final season.
No real surprises here but still interesting to see. As expected Angela talks about Dwight the most, Andy and Gabe both talk about Erin the most and Jan talks about Michael the most.
I would have thought Pam would mention herself more based on how many times she picks up the phone.
Michael makes a total of 15 "That's what she said" jokes through his time on the show, with Dwight, Jim, Pam, Jan, Holly, David Wallace and Creed also making at least one.
So there we have it, if you want to see any other statistics let me know on Twitter and I'll add it to this blog post.
